Vietnam is steadily strengthening its position on the global technology landscape. A growing number of Vietnamese technology companies are continuously innovating and developing products and solutions that carry a strong national identity, demonstrating that Vietnamese intellect can reach global markets and compete on equal footing with international players.
The landscape of Vietnam’s technology industry
After nearly three decades of development, Vietnam’s information technology sector has made significant contributions to the national economy. Through software outsourcing and digital services, many Vietnamese enterprises have generated billions of US dollars in revenue while building a large pool of highly skilled technology professionals.
In 2024, overseas revenue generated by Vietnam’s digital technology companies reached USD 11.5 billion and has been growing at an annual rate of over 30%. By 2035, this figure is expected to reach USD 100 billion, surpassing agricultural exports and marking a major shift in Vietnam’s export structure.
This strong foundation has enabled Vietnam to pursue higher ambitions: developing proprietary technologies and building globally competitive Vietnamese brands. According to Resolution 57, issued by the Vietnamese Government, the country aims to become a regional and global hub for digital industries by 2045, ranking among the world’s top 30 nations in innovation and digital transformation. The resolution also sets targets for achieving a technology enterprise density comparable to developed economies and nurturing at least ten world-class digital technology companies.
Speaking at the 6th National Forum on Vietnamese Digital Technology Enterprises on January 15, 2025, Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized:
“Resolution 57 sets the goal of technological self-reliance and competitiveness, especially in strategic technologies. In the past, we focused mainly on applications and outsourcing. Today, we must focus more on mastering core technologies, design, and innovation, creating Vietnamese products, and moving toward higher-value segments.”

Prominent names from Vietnam
Along this journey, several Vietnamese startups and technology enterprises have emerged as outstanding examples.
Recently, MoMo was recognized among the Top 5 Most Loved Brands in Vietnam by Campaign Asia and Pureprofile, standing alongside Vietnam Airlines as one of the few domestic representatives and the only Vietnamese fintech company on the list.
This recognition reflects not only MoMo’s strategic vision and execution capability, but also the consistency and resilience of its leadership and workforce. More importantly, it demonstrates that a “Make in Vietnam” brand can earn strong user trust, maintain competitiveness in the domestic market, and enhance the international image of Vietnam’s technology sector.
MoMo’s success is built on two key pillars: large-scale applied artificial intelligence and a comprehensive digital financial ecosystem. This platform continues to expand globally. On August 8, 2025, MoMo became the first Vietnamese financial application to integrate direct payment services into Meta’s Messenger platform.
Beyond MoMo, many other Vietnamese technology products have gained international recognition. Axie Infinity, developed by Sky Mavis, created a global phenomenon in the blockchain gaming sector. With millions of players worldwide, it not only put Vietnam on the blockchain technology map but also showcased the creative potential of Vietnamese developers in building trend-setting digital products.
Similarly, Zalo Chat, developed by VNG, has successfully maintained a strong position in Vietnam’s messaging market, competing effectively with global platforms.
In parallel, established software development companies such as FPT Software, Saigon Technology, PowerGate Software, and CMC Global,… have also made a strong impact in demanding international markets by delivering high-quality, scalable digital solutions to global clients.
Among them, PowerGate Software has gradually built a reputation as a reliable technology partner, supporting startups and enterprises worldwide in developing secure, scalable, and innovation-driven software products. Its steady growth reflects the broader transformation of Vietnam’s software sector, from traditional outsourcing to value-driven digital engineering and product development.

From Outsourcing to Innovation-Led Growth
The shift from software outsourcing to the creation of Vietnamese-owned intellectual products represents a major milestone in the industry’s evolution. The companies mentioned above illustrate that Vietnamese engineers and enterprises are not only capable of mastering advanced technologies but also of creating competitive products that meet international standards.
Minister Nguyen Manh Hung further stressed: “Resolution 57 conveys a spirit of self-reliance, confidence, resilience, and national pride in promoting Vietnamese intellect. Vietnam is no longer a small country. We must stand alongside major powers and contribute to the development of humanity.”
The rise of technology products bearing a Vietnamese identity is a vivid testament to the nation’s ambition, creativity, and collective pride. From early steps to major international milestones, Vietnamese innovation continues to assert its presence on the global technology map, with products developed in Vietnam and designed for the world.
Looking ahead, the journey remains wide open. With continued investment in talent, technology, and long-term vision, Vietnam is well-positioned to deliver even more breakthroughs. As companies like PowerGate Software and its peers continue to expand globally, Vietnam’s digital economy is set to play an increasingly important role in shaping the future of global technology.
